the origin
All things begin somewhere... even the Cosmos.
In the beginning, there was infinite blackness: the world did not exist, not even in the eyes of the Universe. It wasn't until the very fabric of time itself became so lonely with only the black vacuum of space for company that every atom of emotion began to boil -- a deep, wretched rolling that filled that vacuum with the sound of mighty rolling thunder -- until at last it exploded in an apocalyptic array of light, matter and stardust.
It was beautiful, if terrifying: an array of cosmic color soon illuminated the Universe in a sparkling mass of uncertainty, newly-forming galaxies gasping for sustenance and grappling for one another in short bursts of furious light, desperate for closeness and companionship. In the calm that followed the explosion, there were Five who were born, the very first of the cosmos to be brought into existence. They were the Firstborns, destined to be champions in their own right: Aranea, Cancer, Lilium, Noctua and Pisces. From them would come all other beings and constellations, and the very worlds that are known and loved will be birthed from their needs and imaginations. As their celestial selves the siblings were millions of miles apart, leaving them dissatisfied and always longing for intimacy. Aranea was the first to fluctuate, to bend her own matter into something tangible so that she might reach out and touch a loved one, or gesture in desire or humor. In a whirl of stardust the she-galaxy took on the form of a celestial equine, her legs long and spindly like a spider's and black as ethereal night. The eldest of the Firstborns, her very presence commanded respect while her family looked to her for guidance. Soon thereafter, the others followed suit and took on their own equine forms, each one wholly individual to their own personalities, their testaments and their galaxies. The age of the Genesis was over almost as soon as it had begun. With the manifestation of the Firstborns and their material forms, they began to mold the Universe like ethereal carpenters. They would make it their own, modeled after their own desires and temptations.
